In 2019, the federal government announced a new roof paint rule which will remove the requirement for new roofing materials to be constructed in a certain area.
But that’s not to say it won’t be coming back in 2020.
The Federal Government’s new rule changes the way that roofing products are sold to the general public.
The new rule applies to roofing panels sold on residential and commercial property in the states of Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.
There is a small exemption to the new rule for new roofs that meet the Australian Building Code’s requirements.
Under the new rules, the Australian roofing industry will be able to sell the new roof to the public in two main ways.
Firstly, the new flooring and other products can be sold through retail outlets or online.
Secondly, the product will be sold to consumers at the retail outlet or online only.
In NSW, the rule applies only to roofers, roofing contractors and roofers who are not required to install the new coatings, or only apply for the exemption.
In Queensland, the rules only apply to the roofing trade.
There is no exemption for roofers and roofing trades that are not in the retail or online market.
The rules are expected to take effect in 2019.
